A Message from the Vice President and General Manager...

Welcome to the new Modular Devices, Inc. website... your portal to the best choice for choice in power conversion technologies.

Modular Devices, Inc. (MDI) has designed and manufactured high reliability power supplies and power electronics for demanding commercial, computer, military and aerospace applications since its inception in the summer of 1973. MDI supports a complete facility for the design and manufacture of custom thick film microcircuits allowing the company to develop compact hybrid power electronics solutions for its customers quickly and efficiently, while maintaining traditional emphasis on sound engineering, quality assurance and durable product reliability. Major military and aerospace firms as well as agencies of the US and foreign governments have selected MDI to support their important defense and research programs.

New management continues to pursue the vision and technology incentives necessary to excel in the military, aerospace, satellite and spacecraft power electronics markets. Over the last decade, MDI has developed 100Krad radiation hardened DC-DC power converters and magnetically isolated proton radiation hardened designs featuring integral EMI filters for MIL-STD-461C/D compliance. MDI perfected its family of space grade power converters built using advanced manufacturing processes and highly specialized assembly techniques and screened to MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF-38534 guidelines. More recently, MDI refined its unique “part hybrid/part discrete” approach to complex power electronics packaging and expanded into custom turnkey power distribution systems solutions for long-term, critical mission spacecraft markets.

New product innovations include the model 3439 series of booster hybrids, a “front-end” component that improves the performance of downstream DC-DC converters affording users a simple and elegant solution for frequently encountered power system challenges in military and space applications. A family of output sequenced power converters has been added to the product lineup specifically designed with FET Solid State Power Amplifiers, RF Amps and EPCs in mind. Additionally, the +5/+3.3 volt dual output series has been broadened to serve the advanced logic and embedded microprocessor marketplace, and a compact, rugged, 300 watt converter family has been created for military vehicle applications that meets tactical nuclear requirements and is parallelable to over 1500 watts.

The professional staff at MDI is organized to optimize performance to space level quality assurance requirements, work statements, technical design and analysis, materials selection and control, documentation management, precision manufacture and screening and testing of complex parts to assure your program success. MDI is uniquely capable of coordinating advanced power conversion technology with professional management for your most challenging requirements…your best choice for choice in power systems design.
